NFI Distribution in Ikotos County
The S/NFIs assistance has been provided to 1387 households, who were affected during the July/2016 crisis by armed attacks, which started off in Juba and there after spread to other parts of the Country.
This attack led to looting of household properties and houses being burnt down in several villages in Ikwoto County in Eastern Equatoria State.
However, with support of Humanitarian Agencies, S/NFIs Cluster, Pipeline and Logistic Cluster, the affected households received these items, with appreciations and appealed for food aid to rescue them from the escalating hunger situation. The County Commissioner and the Relief and Rehabilitation office in Ikwoto County appreciated these responses and appealed for more supports to their warring population. The affected communities are looking forward to further cooperation with humanitarian agencies.
This intervention is a result of a multi-sector multi-agency needs assessment done in September 2016, after that, due to insecurity in reaching Ikwoto County, humanitarian agencies from Torit slow down activities in that area, only Caritas Torit and AVSI remain available in moving and proceeding with verification and registration late November 2016. Once again the insecurity along Juba-Torit road obliged the LC convoy, carrying supplies, to be postponed until the third week of January. Consequently, only late January, Caritas Torit could deliver the S/NFIs assistance.
Finally, the beneficiaries appreciated this humanitarian join effort, even if now they are facing the major problem of lack of food.
